Regardless Of The MPAA Rating Received, Prometheus Won't Be Recut

Ridley Scott's highly anticipated prequel of sorts to Alien is hitting theaters on June 8th, but Prometheus still doesn't have a rating yet.
It's currently being decided on by the ratings board, but Fox studio chief Tom Rothman revealed at CinemaCon this week that regardless of what rating the film gets, they ARE NOT cutting a single frame.
It sounds like there is a good chance it will be rated R, but he's not worried about losing out on box office dollars and told the press: exclude people who haven't seen or aren't fans of the science fiction franchise it's based on. "If you're a fan of Alien, great," he said. "But if you're not, it's entirely self-contained and full of new ideas.
For the sake of younger fans who want to see an intelligent sci-fi movie that isn't centered around a romance, we kind of hope it's rated PG-13. Then again, we were kind of hoping there would be some blood and guts mixed in with the epic tale of where mankind came from.
